Stamina X Air Rower Review

Stamina has made a name for itself in the industry by continually releasing quality rowing equipment in the mid-sized to low range. The Stamina X Air is their most recent creation, and I have to say, the glowing reviews it’s been getting are well deserved. Check out our Stamina X Air Rower review of the individual aspects and features.

It is very good-looking, and the design is thoughtful yet practical- if you are just starting, you will appreciate the attention to detail. But, what seals the deal is the value for money. At only $499, the features, quality, and performance are to die for. It`s one of the best rowing machines under $500 To help you understand what I’m talking about, here is a detailed review.

Stamina X Air Rower Review Of The Individual Aspects And Features

Stamina X Air Rower Review Of The Individual Aspects And Features

Display/monitor

As it is a piece of budget equipment, the stamina X 35-1412 air rower does not come with fancy features. Do not expect to find a heart rate monitor, in-built speakers, or a large touch display screen. However, it does come with a quality LCD that can show you the necessary details needed to keep track of your workout. The display shows; distance covered, calories burned, average speed, workout time, total strokes, and strokes per minute. The totals will be accumulated or, rather, average, so you will have to keep resetting after every session. You shall do this by pressing the mode button for four minutes.

Also, the reading might not be exact but rather a close-enough figure. Sadly, you cannot save your workouts for future comparison.

Resistance

As the name suggests, the stamina x air rowing machine uses air resistance. Therefore, you will have no control over the resistance levels as there is no control. The level of resistance you achieve will be wholly dependent on your rowing strokes.

The fact that it is air resistant makes it very noisy. You will hardly be able to hear yourself think. After producing very much noise, the workout it delivers is still not very challenging for experts. It, however, suffices for beginners and intermediary rowers.

Stability and quality

If you consider yourself overweight, then steer clear of the stamina X rowing machine. It has a maximum capacity of 250 lbs. and a height 6’5’ tall. However, this is not a problem as most of the target demographic tends to fall under the given range. If you one of the few who don’t and still want to purchase the machine, then rumor has it that the range was set lower than necessary for warranty purposes. So feel free to indulge at your own risk.

The said frame is a folding one, but the part that folds is not the side rail like most of its counterparts. Instead, the air resistance unit is the foldable one hence allowing you to tuck the machine away to save space.

Comfort

Comfort

Since you will spend a lot of time on the footplates, you will be glad to note that they have a pivoting action to them, which makes them even more comfortable and somewhat natural. Also, the plates were made huge to encompass consumers with large feet who would otherwise be uncomfortable.

As expected, the seat is made of hard molded plastic hence tends to be hard and uncomfortable. Some critics even said it is too small. However, feel you can always get it replaced for cheap or even better, put a seat cushion over it.

Reliability and warranty

Stamina is known to have a concise warranty in its product, and the stamina x rowing machine is no different. It only has a three-year frame warranty whereas most of its competition gives you a 5-year warranty. As for the parts, you only get a 90-day warranty; hence if you are clumsy or tend to manhandle things, you might want to look at other options.

Replacing parts can be very expensive to the point where you opt for a new machine.

However, it’s important to note that previous consumers attest to the fact that the parts are very durable; hence the short warranty is not correlative. As of reliability, the only problem is with the chain, as it tends to require a lot of maintenance. Otherwise, every other art is very reliable and easy to use.

Price

For the number of features, the lifespan of parts, and the material used to create this machine, you will find it is arguably one of the best options in its $499 price range.

Pros of the product

  • Comes with a compact and foldable frame

Both the seat and the beam can be stored in an upright position. Also, you can fold the frame hence making it very easy to store.

  • Huge pivoting footplates

No matter how large your feet are, rest assured they will comfortably fit the humongous footplates of the Stamina X air rower.

  • Inbuilt transport wheels

You can quickly move the device as it comes already fitted with small wheels.

  • High profile

Since this device is lifted at 18” off the ground, it is very comfortable to use even to those with limited mobility.

  • Has an impressive lifespan

Even though it comes with a concise warranty, most of the parts on the stamina x rower are very sturdy and long-lasting. E.g., steel frame, metal rollers, metal chains.

  • Looks good and is very affordable

For the number of features you get, this rower has excellent value for money. Also, it comes in a catchy red and black making it appear exquisite.

Cons of the product

  • Warranty

Like all other stamina equipment, this one comes with a 90-day warranty for parts and a 3-year warranty for the frame. This warranty is concise and makes no practical sense.

  • Small handle

I found the handle was a bit too small; hence, it tends to be uncomfortable if you plan to use in for extensive periods at a go.

  • It’s an air rower

This device tends to be very noisy. Especially if you are in a small enclosed room, so loud you can’t listen to workout music.

  • It is tough to assemble

If you are new to the game, you might want to get someone to help you in the assembly. It has many pars and a not so detailed manual.

Conclusion

In terms of functionality, value for money and design, this machine the win. If you were on the fence about making a purchase, I hope this Stamina X Air Rower review convinces you otherwise.
